Background
Chaoyin Zen Temple,located by the Qiantang River in Xiaoshan,Hangzhou,is a Buddhist temple personally designed by the internationally renowned architect Kengo Kuma.It is an important part of the Hangzhou International Buddhist Cultural Exchange Center.Unlike traditional temple layouts,its overall outline resembles a mountain shape,symbolizing the integration of the Three Jewels of Buddhism—Buddha,Dharma,and Sangha.This design creates a harmonious landscape with the adjacent Qiantang River,forming a unified mountain and water aesthetic.

Introduction
Hangzhou Chaoyin Zen Temple is located in Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, with Xiasha Road to the north and Qiantang River to the south. The temple covers an area of 26.7 acres. The functional positioning of temples is rich and diverse, including three major areas: religious experience, cultural education, and leisure and health preservation. The interior is equipped with the Temple of the Heavenly King, the Dizang Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the the Shakya ManiHall, the Zen Hall, the Zhai Hall, the Lecture Hall, the Tea House and other facilities, providing believers and tourists with a place that integrates practice, learning and relaxation.
